Now Playing: A 5-piece cover band based in Louisville,
made up of artists all 18 and under.

Developed and backed by The Creative Collective, they pull from a deep catalog of 70s, 80s, and 90s music—bringing decades of sound back to the stage with precision, energy, and respect for the original records.

how.

Patterns was built from trust long before it was built for the stage.

The group first played and trained together through School of Rock, developing their sound and rhythm as a unit. When Mylo was asked to lead music for a new nonprofit initiative under The Creative Collective, she turned to the musicians she already knew could deliver.

Each member said yes—quickly.

With additional guidance from industry experts, the band has committed to weekly (and often twice-weekly) rehearsals, sharpening their set and pushing each other forward. What started as a shared foundation has turned into something ready for a live audience.

Their debut performance takes place April 10 at Portal in Louisville.

“my favorite bass solo to perform is all 3 solos in beastly by vulfpeck, but more specifically the first solo. it shows the ability of balance between playing a highlighted part then right back to playing mindfully, which I appreciate!”

"my hardest obstacle as a vocalist is having people either misgender me entirely, or completely underestimate my vocal ability. a lot of times people tend to put me on “one track” songs, where it’s only speech mix, which is not the only thing that i do. i have such a wide vocal range, and it’s very difficult to have directors not understand that.

- nyx.

my goal as a guitarist is to bring an original approach and new ideas to the instrument. something i love about guitar is that i get to express my art through playing, and a goal is to be able to share that with others.

i would say my favorite song to sing to an audience is As by Stevie Wonder. every time i perform it, you can always tell that the audience connects with the song in a way that is hard to reciprocate. any other song, yes, they relate to the lyrics, but more so they relate to the emotions that the song brings out in every one of us.

"favorite venue to play was rock n roll hall of fame - because it was legendary. 🤤"

All members of Patterns had the opportunity to share the stage with Kentucky country artist J.D. Shelburne during their formative years, having been invited into that performance experience—something that continues to shape their presence today.

Shelburne, a respected Kentucky artist with a strong and loyal following, represents the kind of stage and audience Patterns is continuing to grow into.

listen.

all music performed is a cover of another artist’s work. we want to honor that by making it clear to our supporters and followers that we do not own the rights to these songs unless a piece is specifically noted as an original. enjoy!
